About us

Founding a company

In 2004, graduate engineer Dirk Günther founded Optomet GmbH together with his business partner and former fellow student, graduate engineer Qian Liu. Since then, the company has been developing and producing state-of-the-art measurement technology at its headquarters in Darmstadt to meet the highest requirements for vibration analysis in industry and research.

Milestones

In 2011, the Darmstadt-based company was the first ever to use FPGAs in its instruments. Field Programmable Gate Arrays are the key components for pushing laser Doppler vibrometers to the limits of what is technically possible. Optomet was also the first in the world to present the infrared scanning vibrometer at the Automotive Testing Expo 2015 in Stuttgart. The market launch of the new OptoSCAN imaging full-field vibrometer software for intuitive data acquisition, analysis and visualization of vibrations in 2018 marked another revolutionary milestone in the laser vibrometer market.

Philosophy

"To always strive for the best solution possible and to go to the limits of what is technologically feasible without a single compromise." This motivation from the founding days still describes the Optomet DNA. To this day, the only questions that underlie the development of every product are: Where are the technical limits and how can these be extended?
